BON APPETIT
This specialty magazine focuses on cooking as entertainment, with upbeat, informative articles, recipes, and travel information.

Prospective writers should study recent issues of our magazine to get an idea of our editorial format. New writers are encouraged to submit ideas for travel articles and our Going Out column, which is a monthly round-up of regional restaurants.

THE CHRISTIAN CENTURY
Theology, church life, and contemporary culture are all topics covered regularly in this magazine. It is read by individuals of the Christian faith and is written to appeal to a general audience rather than to scholars.

When we read a submission we tend to ask: Why this? Why now? We also ask: What will cause someone to pick up this article? These are questions you should ask yourself before you submit a manuscript.

FIELD & STREAM
Published monthly, Field & Stream features how-to and informational articles on hunting and fishing. Each issue also features a regional section devoted to hunting and fishing news in the East, Midwest, South, or West.

Freelancers are encouraged to submit short items (25 to 400 words) for our Upfront section, which features tips, humor, conservation news, and opinion pieces.

THE FUNNY TIMES
This monthly tabloid newspaper is a humor review for liberal readers. It covers most topics, from politics and religion to the environment and social issues, from a humorous standpoint.

We want material that will make our readers laugh out loud. Cartoons, short fiction, articles, and stories about almost any topic will be considered if our editorial staff thinks it is funny. If you have a talent for making people giggle, send us your best work.

GARDENING HOW-TO
Published by the National Home Gardening Club, this magazine provides timely, informative, and inspiring editorial content that appeals to avid home gardeners.

We encourage potential writers to submit ideas with broad, practical applications that emphasize the how-to approach to gardening. Target your material to intermediate and advanced home gardeners.

GOOD OLD DAYS
In addition to personal experience pieces about life between 1900 and 1955, Good Old Days includes departments on home remedies, cooking, and transportation from the early twentieth century.

We look for pieces that sound conversational, as if youre sitting around a fire and telling a tale.

GRIT
Personal experience pieces, inspirational articles, humor, and nostalgia reflecting the positive aspects of family life are found in GRIT. Published in tabloid format, it has been around for over 100 years.

While our articles target readers of all ages, grandparents make up a large portion of our audience. We need material on rural family life.

MATURE LIVING
This leisure magazine for senior adults features articles and
stories that characterize human interest, Christian warmth, and humor.

We welcome submissions from freelancers who are familiar with our publication and can deliver articles that are both entertaining and informative.

SKY & TELESCOPE
Sky & Telescope aims to provide clear, authoritative, and interesting information about astronomy and space science to a target audience that includes amateur and professional astronomers worldwide.

The best way to determine whether your article idea is appropriate and how to present it is to review several back issues. Be sure to query first before starting work on an article.

STYLE AT HOME
Since 1997, this Canadian home decorating magazine has covered a variety of topics relating to house and home design, food, leisure, and gardening.

We are looking for writers with a good understanding of interior design and decor, especially as they apply to smaller homes. Profiles of home and garden designers are always enjoyed by our readers, as are feature articles about original designs.
