Heads up, all you YA and children’s book writers out there! This is your reader talking! RanDee Renee knows what she likes and is quite articulate about what makes a good book, in her opinion! I’m sure listening! Thank you, RanDee Renee! Keep writing and you can teach at ILC and Long Ridge when you’re a (well published) adult!

One of my favorite books, is THE GOOD DOG, by Avi. This book is great because I know that almost every kid loves dogs and this story is about dogs fighting for their rights.

The descriptions in this book almost made you feel like you were right there in the story, almost as if you were one of the characters. The words are easy for kids to understand but still make us able to see the story happening.

There are many different characters in this story. My favorites are McKliney and Aspen because they are the ones that help the wolf out. They help her escape from the humans and the bad dog, Redburn.

The most important part of the story is the keep you off of your seat action. My favorite part is when the people find the wolf and the gun was fired. There is so much action in that scene.

The saddest part in the story is when Pycraft beats his dog, Duchess, because she didn't win any of the races that he put her in. It made me feel angry at him and sad for Duchess. I felt like she was helpless because she was a good dog and every time she tried to escape, he caught her.

This book made me think more about dogs. It made me want to help the dogs that needed help. I think this is a great book for anyone that likes dogs and wants to get a better understanding of them.

Well put, RanDee Renee! Thanks!

WHAT A GOOD KIDS BOOK NEEDS

by RanDee Renee Gahr

A good kids books needs three things. The first thing that a good kids book needs is action. The book needs action otherwise it is very boring.

The second thing that a good book needs is bad characters. You need bad characters otherwise what are the good characters fighting?

The last thing a good book needs is some kind of animal. The reason a good book needs an animal is because animals are very much adored by children.

These are the things that I think a good book for children needs to have.

And I’m assuming we need a good character we can care about too, RanDee Renee, right? Someone we can cheer for? Thanks! I’ll read this before I start any kids book! I promise, and we all appreciate your input!
