PROFNET.COM: PROFESSIONAL SOURCES ON THE WEB
Review by Wendy Kraemer
It can be difficult to find the right professional source for your
article. ProfNet connects journalists with Universities, Scientific
Organizations, Government Agencies and more, for free, at
www.profnet.com. <http://www2.profnet.com/>
Navigating the site is easy. Indicate that you would like to enter as
a journalist. You will be presented with the query screen. Fill in
the appropriate information and send the query on it's way. You will
likely begin receiving responses within two or three days.
Tips for using ProfNet:
Be sure to ask for email responses so you are not inundated with phone
calls. Be as specific as possible when describing your needs. If you are writing for a competitive market you can have your query
"cloaked" so other markets aren't tipped off. If you find that you have not received enough responses you can email ProfNet and ask to "boost" your query. You may want to extend the deadline or try different organizations. If you have received too many responses you can ask that ProfNet "turn off" your query.
I have used ProfNet for research on a various topics and have been
pleased with the results. I recommend giving it a try.
